Educational Aid

The St. Andrew’s Society of Montreal provides educational aid to qualified students of Scottish ancestry by means of bursaries and scholarships.
Download a Educational Bursary Application below. If it is a renewal, you can apply online.
There are three criteria for getting a Educational bursary with the St. Andrew’s Society of Montreal:
  • Student must be of Scottish birth or ancestry
  • Be in full-time attendance at a university or CEGEP
  • Be a resident of Quebec

CLICK HERE TO FILL OUT THE RENEWAL APPLICATION ONLINE
All applications (Initial or Repeat) for the Fall term should be submitted by May 30th.
All applications (Initial or Repeat) for the Winter term should be submitted by the previous October 31st.
​Submission of transcripts indicating GPA or other evidence of full-time attendance at an institution should follow the applications as soon as possible.

Minimum criteria required of
​Bursary Applicants

1.1 First time application - minimum requirements
  • Submitted completed application by deadline
  • Application form is complete
  • Official transcripts have been received and are in the applicant's file
  • Scottish backgrounds/affiliations
  • Acceptance into University Program leading to formal qualification
  • Status as a full-time student
  • Evidence of financial shortfall - detailed budget showing discrepancy between anticipated expenses and anticipated income
  • Supportive academic reference
  • Supportive personal reference
  • Covering letter proving clear evidence of seriousness of intent
1.2 Bursary holders, minimum requirements to be satisfied for second disbursement
  • Provided official transcripts
  • Evidence of a minimum of GPA of 3
  • Provided evidence of maintenance of full-time status for 2nd semester
  • Provided covering letter addressing experience of 1st semester and providing additional information the candidate wishes to bring to the Commitee's attention (e.g grades, GPA, status in program, etc...)
1.3 Renewal Applications, minimum requirements
  • Submitted completed application by deadline
  • Renewal application form is complete
  • Official transcripts from previous year have been received
  • GPA for previous semester shows evidence of 3 minimum
  • Evidence of full-time status in program has been provided
  • Provided covering letter addressing experience of previous semester and providing additional information the candidate wishes to bring to the Commitee's attention in support of their renewal.
